Los Angeles Medical Office Construction Amid Coronavirus

Operating a medical office construction business amid a global pandemic

Operating a medical office construction business amid a global pandemic has proven to be a unique challenge.  At Madison Medical Construction we are committed to providing the highest level service to our clients, while prioritizing the health and safety of our team.

We continue to abide by all city, state and national guidelines to ensure safe and properly equipped work environments, including first aid and other life saving equipment.

Madison Medical Construction client Cardiac and Leg Specialists of West Los Angeles share their current reopening plans: their project includes a complete renovation and seismic retrofit of a building that is nearly 100 years old. Since the outbreak of the coronavirus and recent news regarding stay at home orders remaining through July, they have expressed some concerns of possible delays to their project.

The following is what we have shared with them and all of our clients:

“In light of the recent developments, we plan to continue working in the field (as long as we are permitted to) and we are talking the following precautions:

Meetings:  We are going to handle our weekly meetings primarily via facetime and conference call until further notice.

Materials: We are asking all subcontractors and vendors to place their orders for materials and supplies ASAP, as we are concerned about the potential shipping delays even for standard materials that are normally in stock. We will try to arrange for extra storage units if needed.

Inspections:  Many cities have already announced that they are shutting down some public services until further notice which may delay or prevent scheduling city inspections. We are looking into the possibility of using private “deputy inspectors” to keep things moving but this may not be possible. We will let you know when we know if this is an option for some or all of our impending inspections.

Schedule:  In spite of all these efforts, I’m sure there will still be an impact on the schedule for your project, but I will make every effort to keep things moving as much as possible. We will keep you updated as to the schedule impact at our scheduled weekly (virtual) meetings.

Payments:  With everything going on, we’re a bit concerned that there could be several different things that could delay the project despite all our efforts, but we are working to come up with the best strategy possible based on the information we have at hand. Let’s discuss what we can do about that in advance to prepare for this possibility.

As we push to get our suppliers and subcontractors to deliver sooner and to complete their tasks ASAP, we need to be prepared to fund certain things sooner than originally planned for.”

We remain committed to handling this process with care and professionalism, while providing our clients and associates with the tools and information necessary to navigate these times properly.
